A dental crown, also known as a dental cap, is a tooth-shaped restoration that covers the entire visible portion of a damaged or decayed tooth above the gum line. The tooth receiving the crown is prepared by removing a portion of its outer structure to create space for the crown.An impression of the prepared tooth is taken to create a mold, which is sent to a dental laboratory to fabricate the custom crown. A temporary crown may be placed on the tooth to protect it while the permanent crown is being made. Once the permanent crown is ready, it is cemented onto the prepared tooth using dental adhesive. Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between two healthy teeth. A bridge consists of artificial teeth called pontics, which are supported by dental crowns placed on adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. The teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for dental crowns. An impression of the prepared teeth and the gap is taken to create a mold, which is sent to a dental laboratory to fabricate the bridge. A temporary bridge may be placed to protect the prepared teeth while the permanent bridge is being made. Once the permanent bridge is ready, it is cemented onto the prepared teeth or dental implants, restoring the missing teeth and closing the gap.
