Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, is a common dental condition where a person unconsciously clenches, grinds, or gnashes their teeth, often during sleep. Bruxism can cause various dental and health issues if left untreated. If stress or anxiety is a trigger, relaxation techniques, counseling, and stress reduction strategies may be helpful. A common treatment is wearing a nightguard or splint, which is a custom-fitted device worn over the teeth to protect them from grinding during sleep. Practicing good sleep hygiene, avoiding stimulants like caffeine before bed, and limiting alcohol and tobacco use can help reduce teeth grinding. Treating any underlying sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, can also help alleviate bruxism. In some cases, muscle relaxants or Botox injections may be used to relax the jaw muscles and reduce grinding.
