Thrush

This type of thrush manifests as white, creamy, or yellowish patches on the tongue, inner cheeks, roof of the mouth, and throat. It can cause discomfort, a cottony feeling in the mouth, and sometimes mild pain. Oral thrush is most common in infants, the elderly, individuals with weakened immune systems, and those taking certain medications, like antibiotics or corticosteroids.  Vaginal thrush is characterized by itching, burning, and a thick, white, cottage cheese-like discharge from the vagina. It is common in women and can occur due to various factors, including hormonal changes, pregnancy, diabetes, or the use of antibiotics. Sexual transmission is rare. This type of thrush can occur in individuals with compromised immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS or cancer. It can cause difficulty swallowing, pain or discomfort in the chest or throat, and potential weight loss. In rare cases, Candida yeast can infect the skin, resulting in red, itchy, and sometimes painful rashes. This can happen in areas of skin that are warm and moist, such as skin folds.
